Barbara A. McQuinn, M.D., APC
Dr. Barbara McQuinn was born and raised in Huntington, WV, and attended college at Duke University, graduating magna cum laude, AB in Chemistry with Biological Specialization. She completed her medical school training at West Virginia University in Morgantown WV, where she was first exposed to clinical neurology as part of a program which paired first year neurophysiology students with Department of Neurology patient volunteers. Her experiences there fostered a deep interest in the human brain and sensory physiology, and led her to pursue a medical career in the field of general neurology.
After completing neurology residency training at Boston City Hospital Neurological Unit (Tufts / Boston MA), Dr. McQuinn moved to the Bay Area in 1986 to enter private practice, relocating her office from Oakland to Alameda in 1992. She is board certified in both Neurology and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and is on staff at Sutter East Bay, Alta Bates/Summit Medical Center, Summit Campus. She treats adult patients with general neurological conditions ranging from headache, numbness and tingling to seizures, Parkinson’s and dementia.
Patricia Suzanne Maska, M.D., FAAN
Dr. Maska grew up in Dallas, Texas. She received a B.S. in physics from the University of Dallas in 1992 and a M.S. in physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995. After earning a M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1999, she completed her four-year internship and neurology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She finished he neurology training with a neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2004.
She has taught at the Samuel Merritt College in Oakland and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Maska has been on the board of directors of the San Francisco Neurological Society since 2012 and currently serves on the Executive Committee. She is Board Certified in Neurology. Dr. Maska has special interests in migraine and other forms of headaches, botulinum toxin injections for migraine, dystonia and in neurophysiology. Dr. Maska has been practicing neurology in the Bay area since 2006.
In 2018, Dr. Maska opened a solo Neurology practice in San Ramon and Alameda where she shares office space with two neurologists: Drs. Robyn G Young, M.D. and Barbara A. McQuinn, M.D.
